Julio Licinio And His Research

Julio Licinio is the famous name in pharmacogenomics as well as biology of depression. Mainly those were his main area of scientific expertise. Now in Adelaide at Flinder University, he is one of the best Professors of Psychiatry and in Albuquerque at University of New Mexico School of Medicine, he is playing a role of clinical psychiatry professor. Not only that, in Houston at UT Health Science Center (University of Texas) he is taking the charge of adjunct Psychiatry professor and in Braga at University of New Mexico Minho, he is a professor of psychiatry. Above these all, at the South Australian Health And Medical Research Institute, he is the Deputy Director of Translation Strategy and Process; here he is the departmental head of Mind and Brain Theme. Some information about his personal life

Licinio was born in Belo Horizonate, Minas Gervais, Brazil. He carries three nationalities like, American, Australian and Brazilian. His main education and research field is Psychiatry. He is engaged with so many universities, like NIH Intramural Research Program, UCLA, Yale University, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Flinder University, John Curtin School of Medical Research.

Something about his research field

Licinio's main work of field is Psychiatry, which is basically related to Pharmacogenomics and biology of depression. He and his group has done a great research on the genetic of depression, cancer research, Nutrition and Metabolism, Healthy Mothers, babies and children, Population Health, Heart health, Mind and Brain.

Mainly Julio Licinio is renowned for his leptin research. Once he found three people was suffering from genetic disorder and all of them were highly over-weight, which is called leptin deficiency. He daily starts giving them leptin injection and discovered after 10 months, their body weight reduced to half of their body weight which was before. After this research, he wih his colleagues declared that anti-depressants effect may be in leptin in human body and also have cognitive effects on human.

Again in Los Angeles, he and his group started work on depression related pharmacogenomics, where he studied Mexican-American population along suffering from major depressive disorder. Both from California State of Legislature and United States Congress, their research context received certificate of commendation.
