Julio Licinio’s Researches On Mind And Brain

There are many factors that lead to brain functioning. Understanding and encouraging positive brain functioning clearly depends upon our brain health. There are certain habits that can possibly result in the positive and negative thinking process.  Julio Licinio is a deputy director at South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). He is a psychiatry who made wide researches on the deep root causes of depression.

He is also psychiatry at Flinders University, clinical professor at University of New Mexico School of Medicine, adjunct professor at the University of Texas, and visiting professor at the University of Minho. He is the founder of the John Curtin School of Medical Research. He is also working on to publish three journals in the medical field as Molecular Psychiarity, The Pharmacogenomics, and Translational Psychiatry.

He has thoroughly studied and published books on medical issues like "pharmacogenomics" along with "biology of depression". He has also distributed his significant researches on translational psychiatry and obesity where he has explained the link between depression obesity and antidepressants.

His scientific researches with his colleagues discovered that leptin may be used to reduce anti-depression effects. Later, he also proved that leptin effects in human are pro-cognitive. This concept of the study was followed by many other groups.

Julio Licinio is internationally recognized for his investigation in leptin and satiety feeling. Fifteen years back, he noticed leptin deficiency in three Turkey people due to which they were over weighted. As a part of his treatment he daily injected leptin in their body. After ten months of his experimental treatment, he found that they had almost reduced half of their weight.  He discovered that leptin controls every second rhythm of various endocrine axes like hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis, adrenal axis, and gonadal axis.

Hence, these are considered as an amazing and innovative contribution of Julio Licinio in the medical world.  Various studies state that, apart from these contributions, he is still continuing on working on various mental diseases.
